Nuevo Machetes
About This Spot
Nuevo Machetes feels like a quiet little corner where time slows down just enough to savor something genuine. Nestled in Taylorsville, this Mexican restaurant offers a calm, unhurried atmosphere, the kind of place where familiar faces quietly share tables and the rhythm of the day settles into something comfortably steady. It’s a spot where the hum of friendly conversation mingles with the soft clatter of dishes — a simple backdrop for those seeking honest flavors without the fuss.
Walking through the door, you’re greeted by a warm and welcoming presence that reflects in the kitchen’s offerings. The pace here invites you to lean into the subtle joys of carefully prepared, authentic Mexican cuisine. Whether you’re drawn in by the sizzle of quesadillas filled with tender, well-seasoned meats or the vibrant freshness of a shrimp cocktail, each plate feels thoughtfully presented, never rushed.
The menu reads like a tapestry of traditional comfort: dishes that bring together fresh ingredients with the bold, nuanced spices that characterize regional Mexican cooking. You might find yourself sharing a hearty skillet of alambre, where smoky peppers and melting cheese meet savory meats, or savoring a pambazo that feels like a warm, flavorful hug. Even in a quieter setting, the food carries a lively spirit — a reminder that great flavors need no noise.
The staff, though perhaps quietly spoken, adds to the experience with genuine warmth and attentiveness, making the space feel both familiar and inviting. This unpretentious approach extends to every detail, from the crispy, satisfying quesadillas to the comforting chilaquiles that speak to home-cooked tradition.
Nuevo Machetes is a neighborhood refuge—not a showy destination but a place where local rhythms and genuine moments come together. It’s the kind of eatery you discover one afternoon and quietly return to when you want something that tastes like a sincere, flavorful pause in the day.

Very quiet but good food. 7/10 I had the quesadilla suprema which was tasty. I had a mix of chicken and beef filling. The bread was hot and crispy, the fillings had great flavour and the cheese complimented it all nicely. The waitress didn't speak much English but was very helpful and friendly. Would I go back? Yes

Genuine mexican food, antojitos. Best quesadillas in town 20 inch long. Also their weekend menudo and barbacoa are delicious.
